Abstract
►Etna source was depleted by previous low-degree melting in the presence of garnet. ►Etna magmas show a FOZO-type signature with contributions of EM1-type material. ►Magmas with distinct εHf ascend towards the surface with different timescales. ►The enriched component may be silicate melts which metasomatized the source. ►Small-scale heterogeneity produces geochemical changes of Etna magmas at any timescale.
