Abstract
►We determined collapse condition of eruption column using 3-D numerical simulations. ► Type of collapse at the collapse condition depends on the temperature of ejecta. ► Low-temperature cloud collapses from jet structure at the collapse condition. ► High-temperature cloud collapses from fountain structure at the collapse condition. ► Shock wave structures inside the fountain suppress the entrainment of ambient air.
