Abstract
►Early Cretaceous volcanism in Syria marks the last instance of the Mesozoic Levant magmatism. ►Relatively primitive lavas, with small degrees of fractional crystallisation and crustal contamination. ►Partial melting of lithospheric mantle which contained amphibole-rich metasomatic veins. ►Low-solidus mantle source does not require a mantle plume to melt. ►Rift-related volcanism.
