Abstract
⺠First report of unusual peraluminous sapphirines within Mg-rich orthopyroxene-granulites from Madurai Block, southern India. ⺠The sapphirine-cordierite pods suggest interaction of supracrustal rocks with ultramafic magmas. ⺠The possible heat source for the partial melting of lower crust and UHT metamorphism could be this ultramafic source.
