Abstract
► We model Archean and Proterozoic crust of north India and compare with south India and global model. ► This study indicates that the north Indian Archean crust is thin ∼38 km. ► The Proterozoic Vindhyan crust is ∼44-46 km with 4-10 km thick underplated mafic layer. ► N Indian Archean crust is lower in shear velocity than eastern Dharwar craton or the global average. ► The present study suggests north Indian Archean crust is felsic in composition than the rest.
