Abstract
► Mesozoic fossil wood record along a NE-China - Japan transect is rich and diversified. ► After the Triassic Agathoxylon and Xenoxylon were exclusive. ► The latitudinal displacements of their limit followed global climatic oscillations. ► Wood diversity gradient switched at the T/J and Albian/Cenomanian boundaries. ► During the Jurassic inland wood diversity was much higher than coastal one.
