Abstract
⺠First time reporting of a paleoearthquake occurred during Late Pleistocene in Pinjaur Dun, northwestern Himalaya. ⺠Trench excavation survey for detailed paleoseismic survey reveals large magnitude (M7) earthquake in Pinjaur Dun. ⺠Earthquake induced deformation features corroborate the manifestation of the paleoseismic event. ⺠The late Pleistocene fault substantiates the seismic potential of Pinjaur Dun and calls for more exhaustive studies. ⺠Newly recognized active fault traces in the Pinjaur Dun are capable of generating large magnitude earthquakes.
