Abstract

The Cablac Mountain Range in central East Timor comprises a thrust stack of Gondwana Megasequence rocks, of mainly Triassic to Jurassic age. This southerly-directed thrust stack occurs in structural contact with the underlying Lolotoi Formation, and both the Lolotoi Formation and the overlying Gondwanan thrust stack appear to be structurally emplaced upon younger, mid-Eocene units to the south. In addition, the Cablac thrust stack is bound to the north by a high-angle fault along which a crush breccia, comprising clasts from both the Gondwana Megasequence and Asian Banda Terrane, occurs. This interpretation of the Cablac Mountain Range differs significantly from previous interpretations in which the Cablac Limestones were suggested to be massive Miocene limestones that occurred in depositional contact with underlying units.
