Abstract
⺠We find bounds on the energy dissipation in the Earth's core. ⺠These bounds are compatible with a constraint derived from the momentum balance in the core. ⺠The bounds, though rigorous, are disappointingly low. ⺠Consequently they do not constrain the core's energy budget very tightly.
