Abstract
⺠Data collected on the size and number of fragments from the diatom genus, Rouxia. ⺠Formula created to characterize fragmentation in a sample with a single number. ⺠Fragmentation in subunit III shows evidence of Milankovitch pacing. ⺠Concentrated sand intervals disrupt the relationship in the upper 20 m. ⺠Hemipelagic mud produces a cushioning effect, thereby reducing fragmentation.
