Abstract
The presented dataset, which includes a high number of sites over a long geographical gradient, illustrates the variations in pollen deposition within the boreal/arctic transition of north western Europe. The dataset can be used as reference when interpreting Quaternary boreal/arctic ecotone situations from fossil pollen assemblages and when discussing correlations between sites. The large variations of PARs, even within individual vegetation formations, illustrate the importance of having modern analogue datasets for local areas to improve interpretations of fossil PARs.
