Abstract
Different stages and time definition in the process of the interactions between two in-line drops. Drops rising velocity during the coalescence process is illustrated in the above figure, with 15.3 mm diameter (trailing) drop coming into contact with an 11.7 mm (leading) drop. In this paper, the manner in which the trailing drop is far away from a distance of several diameters until the collision with leading drop is mainly focused. The collision moment is named as the contact moment (T0). Based on the velocity and shape data analysis, the starting and ending time of the interaction between two drops can be judged by the geometric feature and energy change methods. In addition, the drag coefficient and lateral oscillation of the two interacting drops are also discussed and analyzed.132
