Abstract
A bifurcation analysis method was developed based on gPROMS platform. The pseudo arc-length continuation algorithm and bifurcation test functions were incorporated in gPROMS for tracing solution paths, locating the bifurcation points and checking the stability of solutions. The method was verified successfully by two classic examples of a CSTR and an azeotropic distillation. Besides the multiple steady states and Hopf bifurcation points which were in agreement with literature, a more complex homoclinic bifurcation phenomenon was found for the distillation process.278
