Abstract
The transport of particles within a horizontal fluidized bed with internal baffles can be described by the dimensionless Bodenstein number, which equals convective to dispersive transport. A correlation for the Bodenstein number with internal baffles in over- and under-flow configuration was developed, as well as a new approach for an apparent bed density. From the correlations it is possible to calculate the residence time distribution for an arbitrary horizontal fluidized bed process with good agreement to experimental data.96
