Numerical simulation of powder flow in a pharmaceutical tablet press lab-scale gravity feeder

This work outlines the effect of process conditions and material attributes on the powder flow within a tableting machine and elucidates the underlying particle flow pattern. In particular, the die table speed significantly influences the tablet mass, and increased cohesion increases the tablet mass variation. Also, increased particle-wall friction decreases the dead zones within the gravity feeder.327
