Abstract
A series of High Performance & Multi-Functional Agent (Hi-FA) grout materials have been developed. This material is a surfactant compound that can provide high flowability and viscosity if it is added to Portland cement. The purpose of this study is to determine the properties of the developed Hi-FA grouts and to confirm whether they are suitable materials for underwater construction. To determine this, an experiment covering the methodologies used in concrete was reviewed and then adopted with some modifications. Using the proposed test methods, laboratory tests were conducted and the properties of the Hi-FA grouts were determined. The anti-washout, bleeding, self-leveling and uniaxial compression tests were conducted. These tests showed that the Hi-FA grouts displayed adequate engineering properties for underwater construction when the Hi-FA material was mixed with cement.
