Abstract
The influence of operational conditions, through their effect on the fuel mixing, on the degree of char conversion in a fluidized bed is investigated using a combination of laboratory-scale experiments and mathematical modelling. Lateral mixing is found to have a much larger effect on char conversion than axial mixing.243
