Abstract
This research analyses the linear visco-elastic behavior of asphalt mixes. Deflection tests using the curviameter device were carried out on three road sections. Laboratory tests were also performed on the cores extracted from these sections. The complex modulus was obtained using a sinusoidal compressive load. The produced mastercurves showed a very good prediction of the laboratory test results. The structural analysis of these pavement sections was done by developing 3D-FE (finite elements) response models. The deflections (3D-FE models) were very similar to the empirical ones (curviameter deflections), validating the mechanical characterization of the asphalt mixes and the 3D-FE developed models.
