Abstract
The effective failure behavior of an analytical and a numerical model for closed-cell foams is calculated. The analytical model is “perfect” in the sense that geometrical imperfections which are known from real foams are neglected. The numerical results are shown for two models with an initial geometry of a tetrakaidecahedron. One model is based on a “perfect” geometry, another model considers irregularities. The focus of this work is the comparison of the models and the analysis of the failure surface these models predict.
