Abstract
The interactions between the surrounding rock and TBM machines under high stress and high water pressure during the excavation of a deep tunnel by TBM need further study. To evaluate the rock mass deformation and pore pressure development in a realistic manner, we here established a hydro-mechanical coupled model in FLAC3D. This system can be used to monitor displacement and pore pressure at different directions around a tunnel throughout the construction period, and the depth of influence of excavation on both deformation and pore pressure will be determined. This exercise allows for evaluation of the scope of influence of tunnel construction, which in turn brings insight into the areas of engineering that need the most attention.
