Abstract

This study examined post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD) and it's predictors among 4072 Tibetan adolescents 3 years after the highaltitude earthquake. The instruments included The PTSD Checklist-Civilian version, The Internality, Powerful others, and Chance Scale and The Coping Style Scale. The results indicated the prevalence rate of probable PTSD was 17.8%.The predicting factors for PTSD were found to being aged 14 or older, being senior student, being monitor, being buried/injured, have family member died/amputated, have severer property loss, have witnessed death, have negative coping skills, and have power others locus of control. Effective mental health services should be developed to facilitate post-disaster recovery.
