•TiO2–Al2O3 nanocrystals were obtained by the sol–gel method.•TiO2–Al2O3 nanocrystal was transformed into nanotubes.•V2O5/NTiO2–Al2O3 catalysts showed thermal stability up to 480 °C.•V2O5/NTiO2–Al2O3 catalysts showed remarkable acidity up to 400 °C.•V2O5/NTiO2–Al2O3 catalysts could be a powerful tool against NOx pollution.
Nanostructured V2O5/NTiO2–Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by the sol–gel and hydrothermal methods and characterized by XRD, TEM, N2-BET and XPS. The role played by TiO2–Al2O3 as nanostructured support of V2O5 for NO–SCR–NH3 at high temperature was studied. The results show that the V2O5/NTiO2–Al2O3catalyst containing 5 wt.% of Al2O3 and 5 wt.% of V2O5 featured the highest activity in the 200–500 °C temperature interval without NH3 oxidation to NO2.
