Abstract
Biogenic 40-nm aggregates of mineral Fe-S controlling natural processes, from the accumulation of natural gas to the emergence of life on Earth or other planets, undergo in situ Oswald ripening and oriented aggregation, and serve as bricks and bridges to form nanorods, layered nanorods, five-branched arrays, and ultimately, hierarchical structures, ubiquitously found, ≤ 50-μm densely-packed icosahedral clusters.105
