Abstract
The uptake of chlorotrimethylsilane on glass is measured versus solution concentration in toluene. Chemistry and structure are characterized with contact angle, atomic force microscopy, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Fractional coverage is obtained from contact angles using an equation for micro-heterogeneous coverage among others. The results are fit to a reaction model with a Langmuir equilibrium physisorption step followed by a rate-determining, first-order chemical reaction. 94
