•We develop a global kinetic model of the NH3 oxidation on Fe/BEA zeolite catalyst.•The model includes NH3 adsorption/desorption on Lewis acid sites.•The reaction of chemisorbed NH3 with gaseous O2 is formally described.•Experimental data are reproduced and predicted by the model.
In the present paper, the kinetics of the NH3 oxidation on Fe/BEA zeolite catalyst was examined representing a side reaction of the selective catalytic reaction of NOx. The kinetic studies were performed in a gradient-free loop reactor between 723 and 773 K varying the concentration of NH3 and O2. The NH3 oxidation was described by a global kinetic model implying the adsorption/desorption of NH3 followed by its reaction with O2. The implemented kinetic parameters were suitable for the reproduction and prediction of the experiments over a broad range of NH3 and O2 concentrations evidencing the reliability of the model.
