Abstract
Physical conditioners, known as skeleton builders, have been applied to overcome dewatering difficulty during high pressure filtration. In the case of the conditioning perfomance of coal fly ash, a skeleton construction with channels was built. However, its futher dewatering efficiency is related to the characteristic of filtration aid, including pore volume. Modified coal fly ash exhibits better sludge conditioning performance than raw coal fly ash, which attributes to the joint effects of slightly enhanced specific surface area and exposure of active substances such as Si, Al and Fe. 89
