Abstract
Operator Training Simulators (OTS) have proven as a most useful restoration-training tool since years as they provide an utmost realistic control centre atmosphere and environment. With the change of the industry from a pure technically driven system towards a market dominated system new challenges in power system operation occur for control centre operators. To perform adequate and efficient training an OTS underlies these changes in various aspects especially with regard to data and information storage and handling as well as to modeling components required. The paper describes the ongoing development of an Operational training system, which development started at a University as a prototype and is nowadays operated by DUtrain - an independent training centre - used in well-designed operator training programs.
