Abstract
The need for efficient control commissioning and for ensuring maintained accuracy for each rolled coil is addressed. The flatness achieved in a cold rolling mill depends on accurate measurement of the flatness and appropriate control by adjustment of the available actuators. The control needs to be tuned to cope with varying rolling speeds and With different matenal to roll. Adaptive control and auto-tuning is based on identification of models of known structure combined with model based tuning, where all a priori knowledge is taken into account. This is achieved by estimating parameters in a continuous time model formulation.
