Abstract
Thc analytic approach for the evaluation of the worst-case performanecof CSMA-based sensor network is derived in the paper. The developed procedure is exemplified by the analysis of the predictive p-CSMA protocol implemented in LonWorks control networking technology. Thanalytic approach is based on the calculation of the stationary distribution of a Markov chain. Next, the probabilities of the succsseful/unsucccessful transmission, and thc worst-case throughput and collision rate are derived.The validation of the developed analytic procedure is made by simulation. Sample results consistent with the analytic calculations are reported.
