Abstract
The temperature of the oil in automobile oil pan is often measured by a bimetallic thermometer. The bimetallic thermometer was selected as a prime case of a thermometer that is affected by the thermal energy. It serves as a pilot example for the larger project focused on the study of thermal load of thermometers. The paper deals with the mathematical simulation of temperature fields in the bimetallic thermometer. The temperature field is generated by the influence of the ambient temperature and the influence of concrete oil. ANSYS environment is used for the modelling of this physical problem.
