Abstract
► Simple nonlinear controllers are implemented on a pilot-scale heat exchanger and compared with PI control. ► The nonlinear controllers are effective over a wide set of operating conditions (gain and dead time) while the linear controllers are either too sluggish or too aggressive outside of the tuned range. ► The authors claim such simple nonlinear controllers can be practicably implemented on a wide range of process units. ► This application article is intended to reveal how to implement GMC and PMBC Controllers.
