Abstract
This paper presents the experimental testing results of a novel triple-state sorption chiller with integrated cold storage. The performance of the chiller was measured for hot water inlet temperatures between 65â°C and 95â°C, heat rejection inlet temperatures between 15â°C and 35â°C, and chilled water inlet temperatures between 10â°C and 25â°C. An empirical model was developed for implementation in the TRaNsient SYstem Simulation (TRNSYS) software. To validate the model, a five-hour experimental charge test was conducted during which the hot water and heat rejection inlet temperatures were continuously varied. The model was able to predict the total heat input and heat rejection energy to within 0.7% and 1.3% of the experimentally measured values, respectively.
