Abstract
This work reports experimental research on the effect of resonance applied to the curing system of CFRP tube production, mainly aiming at the reduction of the void content. Four test series were carried out in order to determine the effect of different curing cycles on the void contend of the specimens. The CFRP tubes were hand made using prepreg carbon. A high resolution image processing technique was used to determine types and quantity of defects. All specimens were subjected to compression to determine their compressive strength and modulus of elasticity. The experimental results showed a reduction in void content when resonance was applied to the curing system of CFRP tube production, leading to an increase of the compressive strength of the specimens tested.
