Deposition mechanism of plasma sprayed droplets on textured surfaces with different diameter-to-distance ratios

The texture with different diameter to distance ratio was processed at the interface of sprayed coatings by laser method. The adhesion strength improves with the increasing diameter-to-distance ratio for two reasons. At first, the contact area ratio improves with the increasing diameter-to-distance ratio which provides the more anchoring area and less spreading area for the sprayed particles. On the other hand, with the increasing of the diameter-to-distance ratio of texture, the cooling rate of sprayed particles improves which leads to the grain refinement. Crystal structure with grain size is beneficial to prevent the crack propagation.204
