Abstract
In this research, the coarse phase in eutectic Al-Si-Fe-Cu alloy was refined by Al-5Ti-C master alloy. An image processing system was indigenously developed for the identification of the phases from the microstructures. The effect of the length of these phases on the mechanical properties of these alloys was investigated. Further illustration about the refinement mechanism of coarse phase was proposed based on the SEM observation. The change in mechanical properties corresponds to evolution of the average length of coarse phase quantification.415
