Abstract
Boehmite nanoplates and Eu3+-doped boehmite nanoplates were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal reaction. And the boehmite nanoparticles behave as plate-like in morphology and have a small size about 59Â nm. Those nanoplates could be effectively excited by near-UV light in the range of 360Â nm to 420Â nm. Because of existing of anionic oxygen vacancies (F-center) in those nanoplates, it has a broad emission peak at 483Â nm excited at 393Â nm. The emission peak at 615Â nm split into two peaks because of the way of asymmetric occupation about Eu3+ ions in the boehmite crystal lattice. Based on the experimental results, boehmite and Eu3+-doped boehmite nanoplates have great potential to serve as an attractive candidate in the application of luminescent devices.
