Abstract
40Li2O-4MO-55B2O3: 1Nd2O3, where MONb2O5, MoO3 and WO3 glasses were prepared by conventional melt quenching technique; the photoluminescence spectra (excited at 800 nm) of these glasses were recorded at room temperature. These glasses exhibited the emission bands ascribed to 4F3/2 â 4I9/2, 11/2, 13/2 transitions. The radiative transition probability (AT) of emission transitions was characterized as a function of linear combination of Judd-Ofelt (J-O) parameters (Ωλ, λ = 2, 4 and 6) which are used to derive radiative properties of the fluorescent levels. Branching ratio (βR) was enlightened in terms of the spectroscopic ratio (Ω4âΩ6)â
Interpretation of the data shows that these glasses have the favorable local structure for Nd3+ ions to emit laser transition 4F3/2 â 4I11/2 (â¼1060 nm) as Ω6 > Ω4. Spontaneous emission probability (A), the radiative life time (ÏR) and stimulated emission cross-section (ÏE) of the present glasses were determined.
