Abstract
The photoactive hexagonal phase cadmium sulfide (CdS) thin films are successfully deposited onto transparent conducting fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate using chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. The delocalization of atomic electron reduces the induced strain during the deposition of CdS thin film at 12 pH which forms the stable hexagonal structural phase with a P63mc space group. The well adherent uniformly distributed porous flakes surface morphology of CdS thin film is observed. The hydrophilic nature of the CdS thin film has been observed from the wettability test by measuring the water contact angle. The optical band-gap energy is observed for CdS film is 2.32 eV. The (photo) electrochemical studies of CdS thin film in dark and under illumination confirm the photoactivity of CdS thin film. The n-type conductivity of the CdS thin film observed from the Mott-Shottky plots. The electrical transport properties during the (Photo)electrochemical activity are investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurement in dark and under illumination conditions and generalized impedance models are developed with an equivalent circuit diagram of electrical compound.
