Abstract
In the present study, TbMnO3 nanoparticles were prepared by hydrothermal method and annealed at different temperatures. The prepared samples were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman analysis, Atomic force microscopy (AFM), Magnetic force microscopy (MFM) and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy (UV-vis). The average particle size of TbMnO3 nanoparticles annealed at 800 and 900 °C was found to be 45 and 60 nm. Optical energy bandgap of the samples were carried out using UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Finally the effect of different sized TbMnO3 nanoparticles as a catalyst for methyl orange (MO) dye degradation under UV light irradiation was analysed.
