Abstract
An exact semi-analytical solution to the scattering of an arbitrarily shaped beam by a chiral spheroidal object is constructed in a spheroidal coordinate system. The scattered fields as well as internal fields are expanded in terms of appropriate spheroidal vector wave functions, and the unknown expansion coefficients are determined by using the continuous boundary conditions and the method of moments technique. For incidence of a Gaussian beam, zero-order Bessel beam and Hertzian electric dipole radiation, numerical results of the normalized differential scattering cross section are presented, and the scattering characteristics are analyzed concisely.
