Abstract
Herein, we report on the thermoluminescence (TL) characteristics of pure and Eu3+ doped barium zirconate titanate (BZT: Eu) powder samples synthesised by solid state reaction technique (SSRT) at a temperature of 1300 °C. From the X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectra, the crystalline form of the powder possessing cubic structure was observed. The field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) images show the agglomeration of the particles while high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) reveals formation of well-organized super-lattices. The TL glow curves of the powder samples are obtained upon irradiation with ultraviolet (UV) light for different times. The TL glow curves so obtained were deconvoluted to get multiple peaks. The kinetic parameters of the glow curves were calculated by Chen's Peak Shape Method. The glow curves for the two samples are found to obey second order kinetics.
