Abstract
In this work a natural fiber obtained as a waste from agroindustry is used to reinforce a polimeric matrix based on renewable sources. Açaà short fibers (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) are used to reinforce a blend which is based on PLA and pine resin. Morphological and thermal characteristics of the fiber were obtained and the biocomposites were elaborated with 5%; 7.5% and 10% of mass fraction of untreated açaà fibers. Then specimens were extracted from composite plates to evaluate mechanical behaviour on bending loading. The results show the influence of fiber addition on mechanical properties of biocomposites.
