Abstract

In this paper, the effective material parameters of magnetoelectroelastic composites are computed on the base of homogenization techniques performed on the representative volume element (RVE). For this purpose, the resulting boundary value problem is formulated as boundary integral equations (BIEs). The Galerkin method is applied for spatial discretization. The required average stresses and strains are obtained directly from the primary values of the BIEs and therefore additional numerical differentiations as necessary in other methods are avoided. Numerical examples will be presented and discussed to show the efficiency of the present boundary element method (BEM) and the influences of the voids on the effective material properties.
