Abstract
The concept of sustainable development introduces a new system of agriculture adapted to contemporary conditions and requirements. It has become a new paradigm that competes with the industrial model. The objective of this paper is to analyse technical and technological progress in the Polish agriculture in the context of implementing the concept of sustainable development. Analyses show that many farms are being modernized through investments, such as the introduction of energy-saving production technologies or the use of renewable energy sources. In an increasing number of farms, including commercial ones, in particular, biogas plants are built. In total, 429.40 GWh of electricity and 225 GWh of heat were generated from agricultural biogas.
