Abstract

This paper presents a study of the drawing process, 3D finite element simulations and show the dies geometry influences on the drawing force for steel wires. The wire drawing process is done with high energy consumption and the combination of the 5 regions of the die geometry contributes to the final properties of the product. In this way, the optimization and the control of process drawing by his automation leads to lower consumption of electricity (by minimizing the force necessary) and to a lower consumption of necessary dies (with a perfect geometry set). The simulations made in this paper shows that drawing forces are strongly influenced by variation of certain process parameters such as half approach angle or different values for the length of the bearing area.
