Abstract

With the development of mobile and internet technologies, the interest in home automation has grown over the past years. This paper shows an implementation of a monitoring and control platform for homes based on FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) structures, embedded systems and web technologies, which is different from other existing approaches. In the end, the current implementation provides a template model which gives a user the possibility to adapt existing devices and appliances, commonly found in houses, to the platform with minor changes. It also allows the control of multiple houses over the internet from one single web page. The system's main component which controls all the physical devices consists of an embedded system based on ARM Cortex M0 IP Core and AHB-Lite (Advanced High-performance Bus - Lite) protocol.
