Abstract

Settlement of land resource shortage is one of the necessary factors for sustainable development of cities. This is possible due to releasing segments of the urban area from buildings and structures, location of which is allowed in the underground space. The purpose of this research is analysis of the economic essence of underground urbanization during the development of large cities. The world and Russian experience of development of the city territory by means of hybridization of ground construction, underground infrastructure and nature were considered in the paper under the primary target's realization. The researches results show that despite the additional cost due to difficult terrain, the use of underground space is economically advantageous. The author considers that it is necessary to extent methods of building development with difficult terrain together with the improvement of Russian legislation.
