Abstract
This work presents the results of experimental testing of beech wood in compression. The results were used to calculate the Young's modulus, compressive strength and yield strength of the material. The experiment was mirrored in finite element analysis carried out to determine the stress and deformation fields at the specimen-jaw interfaces and across the specimen. This approach is called a hybrid method and consists of combining the experiments with quantitative calculations. The experimental tests led to defining the average values of the mechanical parameters of the material. In combination with the quantitative calculations it has become possible to precisely define the stress and strain distribution in the material.
