Abstract

Even at the beginning of the 20th century there was on the natural border between Slovakia and Hungary of 160 km long number of 47 bridges built. Most of these were completely destroyed during the 2nd World War. According the document of regional cooperation between Slovak republic and Hungary signed on 19th March of 1995 in Paris, it was decided to rebuild new bridges in this location. The Faculty of Civil Engineering of Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava has participated on the preliminary project documentation for listed bridges. The staff of Department of Steel and Timber Structures, led by prof. Zoltán Ágocs and prof. Brodniansky, have executed preliminary structural proposal for several variations of load-bearing structures. The Paper presents two realized bridge constructions in the location RároÅ¡ - Ráróspuszta and PeÅ¥ov - Pőstyénpuszta, completed in years 2011 and 2012. Significant role in the administration and preparation process had the Civil association for the reconstruction of bridges over the river Ipel led by Mrs Katalin Molnar, who suddenly died before the completion of the first bridge between PeÅ¥ov and Pőstyénpuszta. This bridge was named in memory of her.
