Abstract
The National road DN 57along the Danube is the oldest road from Romania, known from the Roman times (on the other side of the Danube is the famous “Tabula Traiana” - inscription carved into a rock beside the Danube dedicated to the Roman emperor Trajan and the Roman road, including the bridge, built by Trajan across the Danube). On a length of more than 200Â km running along the Cauldrons, there are different ouvrages d'art, especially bridges. The construction of the Iron Gate I hydroelectric dam near to Turnu Severin; raised the water level by 33 m. The paper presents the bridges along the Danube, the adopted technical solutions and the present situation.
